Last Friday, Adam Schefter appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to give an update on the current status of Tua Tagovailoa playing career in the NFL.
There has been controversy over the fact that Tagovailoa had suffered yet another concussion and whether or not he ought to continue playing. Some experts in the media have called on Tagovailoa to call it quits but Schefter pointed out how unless a physician or someone related to the quarterback begs him not to seek a comeback, he thinks that Tagovailoa will be back in action.
Tua Tagovailoa injury update
“The plan was for Tagovailoa to focus on the team of doctors and spend this week with them, but I think, without taking into consideration what was said in those meetings between the doctors and Tua, I think this is not truthfully based on the new facts that were emerging. Because it is going to take somebody saying, Tua, you will not play. Tua, you cannot do this. Because of his mindset all that while he has wanted to play,” Schefter stated.
“But every, every person who thought like this, there is a cleavage in the natural, a dull cleavage, a crease, a chip, a fork where, and now please bring in the info, where information will be so compelling, or the tests will be so conclusive that, this or that doctor, this or that family member, this or that friend will do this like Tua, it’s not happening. And I don’t have that answer.”
“I can only speculate over the conversations that have happened or shall happen over the day and the week, but I appreciate that this is a guy who each time he has gone through what we are facing right now, within reasons, does not matter how bad it is, he has always wanted to play, and there is something that has been a part of his life for such a long time. It’s in his blood, it’s what he’s supposed to be trained to do, and my hunch is that that’s what he’s going to be trying to do, to continue playing.
“Well, barring someone else is going to get in the way of him or try to silence him, that’s how I perceive this is going to end.”
Tua Tagovailoa injury
As we continue, it is apparent that there are several suggestions on what Tagovailoa can do next however Schefter helped in clarifying that it is the quarterback who’s going to be making the decision and that he cannot escape discussions with doctors or other medical practitioners to know what would be the best way to go about all this.
“It’s his life, his brain, let him decide,” Schefter comfortably said. “This is quite reasonable, let there be common sense on the one hand, it is his life and his choice, he meets these doctors and makes the choice he believes is the right one,” she said.
Dr. Davis has a great explanation for this when she says, “Medicine is not black or white. It is in shades of gray. They tell you what can happen to you, and let you decide who you think is right for you.”
For now, at least, it will depend on the individual’s decision about whether Tua Tagovailoa will still be part of the Miami Dolphins. However, at the moment, he does not appear to be considering retirement regardless of any speculation that has been made regarding his future.
