Actors aren’t actually the characters they play in movie and television.
John Oliver communicated that message on Sunday’s Last Week Tonight in action to a remark from a Fox News expert.
He started the current episode of his HBO late-night program by keeping in mind that both previous President Donald Trump and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg have actually gone to East Palestine, Ohio, in the wake of a freight train derailment and poisonous spill.
But, Oliver kept in mind, that isn’t enough for some Fox News Channel characters. He revealed a clip of Fox News hosts Rachel Campos-Duffy and Jesse Watters talking about the prominent figures who have– and have not– checked out the Ohio town in the middle of the catastrophe.
“Think about the ecological activists, and business America– they weren’t there,” Campos-Duffy stated. “I suggest, with the activists, this is an ‘ Erin Brockovich‘ minute. There was a smash hit, Oscar-winning motion picture blogged about something like this.”
“Erin Brockovich is really in East Palestine tonight, today,” Watters inserted.
Replied Campos-Duffy: “She is– however where’s Julia Roberts?”
A perplexed and exasperated Oliver reacted: “What? What are you speaking about? You recognize Julia Roberts is a star? She was pretending. She’s not in fact Erin Brockovich.”
He continued, referencing a few of her most significant movies: “Also, I can’t think I’m the one that needs to break this to you. She didn’t really destroy her friend’s wedding event [ My Best Friend’s Wedding], she’s not a sex employee [ Pretty Woman], and she did not pass away in a little Louisiana town in 1989 [ Steel Magnolias] What the fuck is incorrect with you?”
